Roughly 3.5 million people in Germany suffer from a chronic liver disease, 5000 people die every year as a result of liver cancer. The number of patients living with chronically inflammable gastric diseases is around 200,000.
The medical, interventional and functional treatment of these diseases has developed and improved fast in recent years, leading to growing requirements of specialist knowledge for both treatment and aftercare.

Chronically inflammable gastric diseases often affect young patients in their work life and their progress is characterized by reoccurring attacks. These attacks often require the care from acute clinics, be it for medication of surgical treatment. These treatments are usually followed by a rehabilitation treatment to recover the patient’s ability to work. The focal point of the rehabilitation lies in the physical therapy and dietetic therapy. Most patients require assistance in becoming familiar with the use of an artificial anus.
